Our film is output on a Linotype-Hell (now Heidelberg Prepress) Herkules Pro with a Postcript Rip 50. This imagesetter is capable of line screens up to 300lpi, and outputs at a resolution of up to 5080dpi.

It is an internal drum-based device for precise registration of colors, with a maximum image area of approximately 21" x 29".

We use Kodak (formerly 3M / Imation) MatchPrint as our film-based proofing system. Easily the most well known and widely accepted analog proof, MatchPrints are essential for proofing the color of your process-printed job. A MatchPrint is a laminated proof, and is considered a contract proof that a printer is expected to match on press.

ColorKeys are generally used for proofing 2 - 3 color jobs, and as overlays on Matchprints for indicating extra spot colors on process jobs. In both of these applications, color accuracy is not being proofed, but rather the relationship between the colors. In addition, ColorKeys are sometimes requested by printers who will be running a process color job on a 2-color press.
